I see what you mean by Nara (sanscrit) for Narayama!
In almost every tale there are women's tears becoming lakes or rivers. "A lagoa do Abaeté" (Salvador-Brazil), "A Serra da Mantiqueira" (Minas-Brazil)and many others.
I like that!
